Please note: Target and Safeway in the Baltimore area buy their food items from a Jewish distributor that does not sell its chometz. Therefore, chometz may not be purchased from these stores until four weeks after Pesach. One may purchase chometz at these stores beginning on the Wednesday after Lag B’omer, May 1, 2013. We do not have any information regarding these stores in other parts of the country.
The above also applies to Giant stores in the Baltimore area. Please note the following two exceptions.
Giant Old Court Road in Pikesville & Reisterstown Plaza in Northwest Baltimore locations
The above information applies as well and chometz may not be purchased from these stores until May 1st. However, chometz may be purchased from the Kosher aisles of these two stores.
This is because A&L Kosher Food Distributor sells their chometz through the Star-K. A&L is the exclusive supplier for the "Jewish Brands" in the kosher aisles and other areas in these stores at the above two Giant locations only. Products from these kosher aisles may be purchased immediately after Pesach. As indicated above, other regular kosher chometz products in the regular store aisles, such as cereals and pasta, are not supplied by A&L.
Some of the "Jewish Brands" that do not have "Chometz after Pesach" concerns in the kosher aisle and frozen section at GIANT Old Court & Reisterstown Plaza are: (These are only SOME examples, there may be more).

In addition, please note that all fresh-baked breads and buns with kosher certification are supplied by local vendors and are acceptable. Some examples of these are:
Giant, H&S, Arnold, and Pepperidge Farm: sandwich bread, rye bread, hot dog and hamburger buns.
