- GE Ovens
SPECIAL GE ALERT
Please be advised that, since GE will not have its fix available before Pesach, if you have these ovens you should be aware of the following:
For Group 1 Built-in ovens: These are fully compliant models, which can be opened/closed with no problems, and have temperature adjustment capability while in Sabbath Mode. (Remember, even in the Sabbath mode, one is never permitted to adjust the temperature on the Sabbath. Check our website for model numbers.)
Group 2 Built-in ovens: On YomTov, you can raise the temperature but after doing so you must wait 30 minutes before opening the door. Opening the oven door within that 30 minute time span will deactivate a fan. This is not a problem when lowering the temperature. (Remember, even in the Sabbath mode, one is never permitted to adjust the temperature on the Sabbath. Check our website for model numbers.)
CAUTION: Please be aware that the Star-K is no longer certifying the following ovens because of the problems listed below:
Group 3 Built-in ovens:
ZET1SM, ZET1PM, ZET2SM, or ZET2PM (made from April 2007 to date)
In order to be able to open the oven door on Shabbos/YomTov, you will need to tape down the plunger switch with metallic tape. Once the tape is in place, you may adjust the temperature on YomTov, but, after raising the temperature you must wait 30 minutes before opening the door. Opening the oven door within that 30 minute time span will deactivate a fan. This is not a problem when lowering the temperature. (Remember, even in the Sabbath mode, one is never permitted to adjust the temperature on the Sabbath.)
