The official kosher certification logo, a star\u00a0with a \u201cK\u201d inside, may now be seen on the back of all U.S. produced product packaging.<\/p>\n<p>The STAR-K\u00a0Kosher Certification is a guarantee that White Labs house yeast strains and enzyme\u00a0ingredients meet all kosher requirements. Those requirements include the Jewish religion\u2019s laws\u00a0that determine which foods are acceptable and conform to the Jewish Code. To become certified,\u00a0White Labs worked with STAR-K\u00a0representatives to evaluate the company\u2019s ingredients and\u00a0products. As a condition of the certification, STAR-K\u00a0audits the production facilities regularly\u00a0throughout the year to ensure kosher compliance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving our house yeast strains and enzymes kosher certified is an investment in our company\u00a0that we hope our customers will appreciate,\u201d said Chris White, White Labs president &amp; CEO. \u201cWe\u00a0had customer requests to become kosher certified and after reviewing the requirements and our\u00a0ingredients, we determined it was an easy request to fulfill. White Labs continues to provide the\u00a0highest quality products, and the kosher certification is yet another reason why we are unique.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhite Labs maintains a high level of compliance and quality control systems and it was a\u00a0pleasure working with them,\u201d said STAR-K\u00a0President Dr. Avrom Pollak. \u201cSTAR-K is happy to be\u00a0able to offer brewers seeking to reach the kosher market the opportunity to use White Labs\u2019 pure\u00a0liquid yeast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Currently, only house yeast strains and enzymes manufactured at the San Diego and Davis\u00a0facilities are certified kosher. Strains and enzymes manufactured in the company\u2019s Copenhagen,\u00a0Denmark facility are currently being evaluated for certification. Private strains that are banked\u00a0with White Labs are not currently kosher certified but if requested, may be certified at no charge.\u00a0Products are certified only when bearing the star K symbol.<\/p>\n<p>All processes and ingredients are consistent with production before the certification, there is no\u00a0difference in the product or quality of the yeast strains or enzymes now that they have been\u00a0certified kosher.
