<i>Al&nbsp;Hamichya&nbsp;<\/i>and make a mistake, I don\u2019t know what to do.&nbsp;&nbsp;Could you give me some guidelines?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>A:<\/b>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;There are three places in the&nbsp; <i>brocha me\u2019ein shalosh<\/i>&nbsp;(colloquially known as&nbsp; <i>Al Hamichya<\/i>) where the text changes, depending on what was eaten:<\/p>\n<p>(1)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The&nbsp; <i>brocha<\/i>&nbsp;starts with the words \u201c <i>Boruch&nbsp;atah&nbsp;Hashem&nbsp;Elokeinu&nbsp;melech&nbsp;ha\u2019olamal \u2026<\/i>\u201d, followed by either \u201c <i>hagefen<\/i> <i>&nbsp;ve\u2019al&nbsp;pri&nbsp;hagefen<\/i>\u201d if a person drank wine, \u201c <i>ha\u2019eitz<\/i> <i>&nbsp;ve\u2019al&nbsp;pri&nbsp;ha\u2019eitz<\/i>\u201d if he ate fruit from the&nbsp; <i>shivas<\/i> <i>&nbsp;haminim<\/i>, \u201c <i>hamichyeh<\/i> <i>&nbsp;ve\u2019al hakalkalah<\/i>\u201d if he ate food made from any of the five types of grain (wheat, barley, oats, rye, spelt), or a combination of these phrases if he ate or drank a combination of items.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>(2)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Further on in the&nbsp; <i>brocha<\/i> <i>,<\/i>&nbsp;one says \u201c&#8230;&nbsp; <i>ve\u2019nodeh<\/i> <i>&nbsp;lecha&nbsp;al&nbsp;ha\u2019aretz&nbsp;ve\u2019al&nbsp;\u2026<\/i>\u201d, followed by either \u201c <i>pri<\/i> <i>&nbsp;hagofen<\/i>\u201d, \u201c <i>ha\u2019peyros<\/i>\u201d, \u201c <i>hamichya<\/i>\u201d, or a combination of these phrases.<\/p>\n<p>(3)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The&nbsp; <i>brocha<\/i>&nbsp;concludes with the words \u201c\u2026&nbsp; <i>Boruch&nbsp;atah&nbsp;Hashem&nbsp;al \u2026<\/i>\u201d,&nbsp;followed once again by either \u201c <i>hagefen<\/i> <i>&nbsp;ve\u2019al&nbsp;pri&nbsp;hagefen<\/i>\u201d, \u201c <i>ha\u2019eitz<\/i> <i>&nbsp;ve\u2019al&nbsp;pri&nbsp;ha\u2019eitz<\/i>\u201d, \u201c <i>hamichya<\/i> <i>&nbsp;ve\u2019al&nbsp;hakalkalah<\/i>\u201d, or a combination of these phrases.&nbsp;&nbsp;If one ate fruit from the&nbsp; <i>shivas<\/i> <i>&nbsp;haminim<\/i>&nbsp;which were grown in&nbsp; <i>Eretz<\/i> <i>&nbsp;Yisroel<\/i>, the&nbsp; <i>brocha<\/i>&nbsp;concludes with the words, \u201c\u2026&nbsp; <i>ha\u2019aretz<\/i> <i>&nbsp;ve\u2019al&nbsp;peiroseha<\/i>\u201d.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Regarding a person who inserted the wrong text in all three places:<\/p>\n<p>(i)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;If a person ate grapes and, instead of reciting \u201c <i>al&nbsp;ha\u2019eitz<\/i>\u201d throughout the <i>bracha<\/i>&nbsp;said \u201c <i>al&nbsp;hagefen<\/i>\u201d, he is&nbsp; <i>yotzeh<\/i>.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;[If he ate grapes and drank wine, but recited only \u201c <i>al&nbsp;hagefen<\/i>\u201d without specific intent for the grapes that he ate, he must recite a separate&nbsp; <i>brocha&nbsp;acharona<\/i>&nbsp;for the grapes.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref4\"><sup>4<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(ii)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;If a person drank wine and, instead of reciting \u201c <i>al&nbsp;hagefen<\/i>\u201d throughout the&nbsp; <i>brocha<\/i>&nbsp;said \u201c <i>al&nbsp;hamichya<\/i>\u201d or \u201c <i>al&nbsp;ha\u2019eitz<\/i>\u201d, he is still&nbsp; <i>yotzei<\/i>.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn5\" name=\"_ftnref5\"><sup>5<\/sup><\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;[If he drank wine and also ate a&nbsp; <i>mezonos<\/i>&nbsp;item or one of the&nbsp; <i>shivas<\/i> <i>&nbsp;haminim<\/i>, but recited only \u201c <i>al&nbsp;hamichya<\/i>\u201d or \u201c <i>al&nbsp;ha\u2019eitz\u201d&nbsp;<\/i>without&nbsp;having specific intent for the wine, he must recite another&nbsp; <i>brocha&nbsp;acharona<\/i>&nbsp;for the wine.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn6\" name=\"_ftnref6\"><sup>6<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(iii)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;If a person ate dates and, instead of reciting \u201c <i>al&nbsp;ha\u2019eitz<\/i>\u201d throughout the <i>brocha<\/i>&nbsp;said \u201c <i>al&nbsp;hamichya<\/i>\u201d, he is still&nbsp; <i>yotzei<\/i>.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn7\" name=\"_ftnref7\"><sup>7<\/sup><\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;[If he ate dates and a <i>mezonos<\/i>&nbsp;item, but recited only \u201c <i>al&nbsp;hamichya<\/i>\u201d without specific intent for the dates, he must recite another&nbsp; <i>brocha&nbsp;acharona<\/i>&nbsp;for the dates.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn8\" name=\"_ftnref8\"><sup>8<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(iv)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Other than the three cases noted above, if a person inserted the wrong phrase throughout the&nbsp; <i>brocha,<\/i>&nbsp;he is not&nbsp; <i>yotzei<\/i>&nbsp;and must repeat the <i>brocha<\/i>&nbsp;correctly.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br clear=\"all\"><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span>Regarding a person who inserted the wrong text in one or two of the three places:<\/p>\n<p>(i)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A person who realized that he erred at the beginning and\/or middle of the <i>brocha,&nbsp;<\/i>before reciting <i>&nbsp;Hashem<\/i>\u2019s name, should return to the point where he erred and continue from there correctly.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn9\" name=\"_ftnref9\"><sup>9<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(ii)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A person who erred at the beginning and\/or middle of the&nbsp; <i>brocha<\/i>, but finished correctly, does not need to repeat&nbsp; <i>Al&nbsp;Hamichya<\/i>.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn10\" name=\"_ftnref10\"><sup>10<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(iii)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A person who recited the beginning and middle of the&nbsp; <i>brocha<\/i>&nbsp;correctly, but erred at the end of the&nbsp; <i>brocha<\/i>, is <i>&nbsp;halachically<\/i>&nbsp;considered to have recited the whole&nbsp; <i>brocha<\/i>&nbsp;with that mistake.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn11\" name=\"_ftnref11\"><sup>11<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On&nbsp; <i>Shabbos<\/i>, the words \u201c <i>\u2026<\/i> <i>&nbsp;U\u2019retzei&nbsp;ve\u2019hachalitzeinu&nbsp;be\u2019yom&nbsp;ha\u2019shabbos&nbsp;hazeh<\/i>\u201d are added to the text of&nbsp; <i>Al&nbsp;Hamichya<\/i>.&nbsp;&nbsp;There are similar additions for&nbsp; <i>Rosh&nbsp;Chodesh<\/i>,&nbsp; <i>Yom Tov<\/i>&nbsp;and&nbsp; <i>Rosh&nbsp;Hashana<\/i>.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn12\" name=\"_ftnref12\"><sup>12<\/sup><\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;If a person forgot to insert any of these additional phrases, he is still&nbsp; <i>yotzei<\/i>&nbsp;and does not repeat&nbsp; <i>Al&nbsp;Hamichya<\/i>.<a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftn13\" name=\"_ftnref13\"><sup>13<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<hr align=\"left\" size=\"1\" width=\"33%\">\n<div>\n<p dir=\"RTL\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><a title=\"\" href=\"#_ftnref1\" name=\"_ftn1\">1.<\/a>&nbsp;\u05e2\u05d9&#8217;
