Fisher & Paykel Ovens
With the Sabbath Mode Feature

The following FISHER & PAYKEL BUILT-IN OVENS may be used on the Jewish Sabbath or the Jewish Holidays (Yom Tov) in accordance with the instructions below:

Single Built-Ins
OS301SS OS301M OS302SS OS302M
Double Built-Ins OD301SS OD301M OD302SS OD302M

Please be aware that there are restrictions in the use of ovens on the Sabbath and Holidays. If you are unfamiliar with the laws of keeping food warm on the Sabbath or cooking on the Holidays, please call your Rabbi. Please note that when the Holiday and Sabbath coincide, the Sabbath laws prevail. See your owner's manual for instructions on operating the Sabbath mode. Before first use of a new oven be sure to wash the racks and interior of the oven thoroughly with warm water and soap to remove any coating oil.
  1. The oven temperature may not be initiated, adjusted or turned off on the Sabbath.

  2. On the Sabbath, in lieu of a "blech", the oven controls should be covered. (Be careful not to cover vent openings.)

  3. All food should be placed in the oven before the Sabbath begins, since none may be placed in the oven during the Sabbath.

  4. On the Sabbath, the oven door may only be opened once, all the food removed and then closed. On the Holidays, the oven door may be opened/closed at any time as often as desired.

  5. On the Holidays, the temperature may be adjusted (but not initiated or turned off) at any time (because there is a delay between the request and the implementation) by turning the temperature control knob.

Consumers should be aware that when raising or lowering the oven temperature on the Holidays in the Sabbath mode, no numbers are displayed. Therefore, before the Holidays it may be helpful to mark the oven with the temperature control knob positions of desired temperature settings.

  6. The procedure for entering the Sabbath Mode requires selection of the number of hours for the duration of the Sabbath mode. The number of hours selected should extend through the period during which oven use is desired on the Sabbath or Holidays.

For models with serial number below BSM800086, when the set time period is reached, the oven reverts to normal (non-Sabbath mode) operation, in the Aero Mode, running at the temperature set for the Sabbath Mode. (In effect, timed bake is not available in the Sabbath Mode.)

For models with serial number BSM800086 and above, when the set time period is reached, the oven shuts off but remains in the Sabbath mode.

  7. After recovery from a power failure, these ovens will return to the Sabbath mode at the previously set temperature.

  8. Models with serial number below BSM800086 have a software anomaly after exiting the Sabbath Mode. One of the cooling fans will keep running. About one hour after turning the oven OFF, turn off the oven circuit breaker, wait a few seconds, and then turn the breaker back on. This does not apply to models with serial number BSM800086 and above.
